March 15 - Exposed butt joint
|
Removing the weights and mylar reveals a nicely cured joint with no air bubbles. Close inspection reveals the tape over the joint -- but it won't bother me as this side of the joint will be inside the boat. The excess epoxy over the joint will be sanded smooth before stitching the hull panels together.
Note that this is not the Sapele side of the panel. Because Sapele weighs more than Okoume, Sapele is used only on one laminate layer -- Okoume is used on the other two.
