aligning the forms
|
Here is a close-up of a few forms in place. You can see the wingnuts on large fender washers (over the big 3/4" holes) that allow the forms to slide around in order to align. I just lightly hand tighten the wingnuts, slide/tap the form around to my satisfaction and then tighten up with a pair of pliers or wrench.
The stringlines have been tightened up until they sing. (In this case they are about a semitone apart - i feel that a third is just second best, heheh). As you can see the bulls-eyes sighting lines allow one to readily check alignment from many angles.
As I didn’t want to put a slot in all of the risers, I will not be able to place the centre bottom stringer while the yak is on the forms. Putting it on later should not really be much of a problem.
there's an ongoing discussion in our forums about this project if you have any questions or comments.
