    epoxy Sanding

Thanks Dave, that is what I thought. I have been wet sanding with 120 and just have some more persistent spots of raised epoxy that I should probably use some 80 grit on to get down through. Then back to the finer grits should do it I think.

    epoxy Sanding

How important is it to get every last little bit of shine off the epoxy on the hull before varnishing? Are very small spots going to show once the varnish is applied? Thanks.

Cut hatches now or after varnish

Thanks, I have a couple of coats of epoxy on over the fiberglass, guess I was not too clear on my question. I was wondering about putting a coat of varnish on over the epoxy before cutting the hatches. Seeing John's message makes me think think that might be a good idea to avoid a tight fit...

Cut hatches now or after varnish

I think that is what I was thinking! I plan on cutting out the hatches, using epoxy to seal the edges and then varnish the deck (and hatches) for a final finish. Was thinking of a final epoxy coat before the varnish, but don;t think I need it since the varnish should provide a good finish after...

Cut hatches now or after varnish

Finished wet sanding the deck. Better to and glue the hatches now or put a coat of varnish on first. Seems like easier to put the hatches in, then finish with varnish.

System 3 Silvertip Gel Magic instead of epoxy

thanks. Might be easier than using - maybe a bit lighter on weight too

System 3 Silvertip Gel Magic instead of epoxy

Amy thoughts on using Gel Magic instead of epoxy on bulkheads on a Pinguino? I have some West Six10 but not sure about compatibility with the System 3 epoxy on the hull and deck. Thanks.

    Gorilla Tape on hull

Yep - was just holding the deck together to the glassed hull. Sounds easier to put a wood block in before the hull and deck are joined. Thanks much for all the notes, appreciate the experience!

    Gorilla Tape on hull

Another question Dave. What do you think about using a piece of minicell foam in the bow and stern that would be well epoxied in place, instead of doing a thick bow and stern pour of epoxy? Or is the thick fillet best for structural strength.

    Gorilla Tape on hull

Thanks Dave. I was wondering if I would need something stronger to get it softened. Just another step in the process.

    Gorilla Tape on hull

Used Gorilla tape on a Pinguino 150 build. When I peeled the tape off the deck that has not been glassed yet it was fine, but almost all the pieces left the sticky stuff attached to the hull that has been glassed. Thoughts on the best way to get this off? I was thinking of using white vinegar on...
