Paddler
Just thought I'd share my excitement about a new-to-me sport, Canyoning(or canyoneering, if you're American). Why WCP? Because if you're already an adventurous paddler, you probably own some of the needed gear, and as long as you don't mind heights, you'll enjoy it.(And because I learned about local canyoning from a fellow WW paddler)
What is it? traveling down a steep low volume creek on foot/by rope. It may involve any of the above-hiking down slippery rocks, jumping into water or various depths from various heights, rapelling down waterfalls and cliffs, scrambling down slopes and sometimes logs, and swimming.
It's also local-there's a few fun canyons on the North shore, and in Fraser Valley.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=689pvucT ... el&list=UL Sweet vid of a canyon we haven't done yet. http://www.ubc-voc.com/2012/09/05/canyo ... n-yawn-ing a TR from a 2-canyon weekend that I participated in.
So if you want to get wet, the rivers aren't running and puttering around English Bay doesn't hold the appeal it once did...
Also,it's OK if you can't roll.
