I'm with Jurfie, (i think it was Jurfie) i'm willing to pay a bit more to buy local as well, always have, i won't be gouged though.. Local to me is my town Ladysmith, and it spreads from there. If i can't get what i'm looking for here i'll go South to Duncan or Vic. or North to Nanaimo, i...

    What's 'local'?

Hmmm.... Interesting, support "small" business and avoid "big" evil corporations.. So at what point is a business no longer "small"?? Define "big".. Lets use MEC as an example. Very humble beginnings to say the least yet due to ability, ingenuity and giving unsurpassed customer service they...

    Backband Modification

That is great news! There is nothing more frustrating than a nagging injury preventing someone from doing what they love to do. It would seem your ingenuity and resourcefulness has payed off!

Where have all the sea kayakers gone?

One of the challenges this country is facing is how to deal with the increase in the aging population. If the aging population is out pacing the younger where are they? I agree sea kayaking would draw a more mature crowd, apparently they are finding other activities. I think it comes down to...

Where have all the sea kayakers gone?

During the summer months we do a lot of day trips in the South Gulf Islands simply because we have such easy access, we rarely see other kayakers on the water. Occasionally we'll see one in the distance. The only time we run into any is in areas where there are rentals like Ladysmith or Sylva...

Where have all the sea kayakers gone?

Excellent thread! We tend to do most of our kayaking in the winter months and mostly because we like being alone out there. We've never really had much interest in going to area's like the broken group for the simple reason that we have heard it can get very crowded. We have talked to two local...

The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeline

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli Maybe i jumped the gun when i referred to you 2 as "reasonably intelligent individuals"?? Regardless, yes more propaganda from the peanut gallery with absolutely no science behind your links, as per norm... Anywho, i'm done here for...

The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeline

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli Consider this, you 2 seem like reasonably intelligent individuals, hard working and probably trying to make your money work for you for that inevitable old age. In all likely hood you have some form of mutual fund to make your money...

The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeline

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli I'm finding it amusing that the best you can do is personal attacks, and with cartoons no less, than actually coming up with substance.. Its really not asking much, honestly... Personal experience: We did some logging on the Eastern...

The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeline

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli And its about time! These so called environmental groups have been spewing dis and misinformation for years now. Maybe if more were called to task they might be persuaded to stick to the truth and the facts.. If there was more of that...

Freya Hoffmeister Paddling Around South America

See, i wouldn't bother reading it now. If they get facts wrong that i am familiar with how do i know they are telling the truth on something I'm not familiar with? Pass on this one, its pointless..

    Marble River Canyon

Thanks Ken. Yeah we planned on giving Quatsino Narrows a wide berth. The road to get to the launch site at the end of Rupert Inlet/Arm is not for public use, at least it wasn't when Gary and Paul had written the book, besides i like the parking at Coal Harbour, very safe. I just checked out...

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli Hardly, its amusing at best. What i want you to do is show "proof", a simple enough request.. As to the myth of global warming its best saved for another thread.

The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeline

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli I know a lot of people and myself included that would be against this project if such proof were to be presented..... And no, cartoons and comic stripes don't cut it with me either...

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli I've logged from Indian Arm to the Bowrans in PG East to the Kootenay's, west to Babin lake in Smithers to Terrace, Kitamat and back down the coast to the island and most points in between. We've actually built a dry room which is in the garage. Low heat with a fan going and everything is nice and dry, than hung and shelved in the kayak room.
