    Skeg If you go backwards over shallow water with the skeg out, it can pop off. The darn thing sinks too. I tied some fishing line to the hole where the screw bites into the cable, and looped it around the spindle where it hinges on. That way at least I would drag it along rather than lose it...

    Search for Handheld Marine Two-Way VHF Radio / Transceiver

    I just passed my test last night, so I will be looking for a radio soon. I saw one by Uniden that had a GPS built in that looked interesting. http://www.uniden.com/products/productd ... ct=mystic# I also saw a HX471S that has FRS radio as well. Probably both are out of my budget for now...
