For Canadian buyers, it could be useful to have an 'ordered list', something like:
Canadian owned, manufactured in Canada
Canadian owned, manufactured in Asia
European/UK owned, manufactured in Europe/UK
European/UK owned, manufactured in Asia
US owned, manufactured in Asia
US owned, manufactured in US.

Really? Aww man. Shoulda suspected as much. LOL It's funny how whenever I see these wholesome-looking small businesses in the U.S. or Canada I still (for some weird nostalgic reason) assume their products are made here...

I'm sure the Chinese are wizards at vacuum-bagging boats though!

VCP has been owned by P&H for some years, but trades as an independent brand. That may give both a bit more protection. You didn't mention Rockpool, but my guess is that if Mike Webb ever decides to stop building kayaks, he would close the company down rather than see the brand misused. Those three brands are built in the UK and likely to remain so.
