Frej XS

A small update. After a few trips it was clear that I had mounted the back band in the wrong location. I had tried bracing it higher with some foam scraps but it didn't work well. I tried mocking up a few different mounting points and wound up going with the highest one. It provided the most support and comfort. We found angling the strap up too much with a rear support just allows the band to roll back when leaned against. It seems the flatter the strap angle the better or just slightly angled down following the angle of the coaming. I wasn't happy about having to drill/bolt the riser but apparently it "feels just right" now and doesn't interfere with the skirt rand. I quite like the ratchet adjustment system on the IR back bands. They're so easy to dial in just right tension wise. A thank you to Redkite for sourcing me a couple of the less common IR Lounge bands that I'm really looking forward to trying on my boats.

Too fine of sand paper? We also have a case of the varnish de-laminating. It's kind of bubbled loose is a few spots and really peeled back where it's been scraped. I assume this is from too fine of sandpaper? In future I will keep the grits low on the whole build for better adhesion/strength.

Magnetic hatches, still haven't done any rescue practice with this boat to see how much water they let in but boy are they nice when camping. Especially when going back to back digging through hatches with the 3 buckle system on my daughter's Tern. Worth the extra time that they take to make. Doing them again I'd put a slightly stronger magnet in the lid mainly for peace of mind on the highway.
