Jackson and Werner

I'm not familiar with the Nimbus paddles.
Is the Zephyr the same as the 'old' Quill paddle?
It looks shorter/wider than my 'mental image' of the quill my friend has.

My impression (please correct) was that Nimbus kayaks and Nimbus paddles were separate entities. Then Steve Schleicher (the kayak guy) moved his operation back to Quadra where Nimbus paddles lurked. I don't know the relationship between the two companies, perhaps relatives? Further, I think Steve had some involvement with Sterling's kayak company, maybe with the Ice Kap design.
The above are a bunch of vague conjectures! Fix and elucidate!
Some history on the paddle side of things here: https://nimbuspaddles.com/pages/aboutus

When my wife needed a new paddle 4 years ago, I bought here a Nimbus paddle. From ordering to landing on our doorstep was approximately a week. Excellent quality, light weight, just an overall great paddle. Based on the few Werner paddles that I have seen and tried, I'd stick with Nimbus. Every bit as nice a paddle and at a better price.

Paddle preference is very much an individual thing....
But the Nimbus paddles are just as expensive as the Werners.
Nimbus FG Wave Walker $489, Werner Camano $500
Werner Carbon Straight Cyprus $640, Nimbus similar paddle $650
Are some of the Nimbus paddles foam core?

But that choice is disappearing fast, so comparisons are probably 'academic'...

I've only used a Nimbus paddle a couple of times but my recollection was 'similar to Aquabound'.

Other paddle options that have disappeared: the Lightning paddles from Colton, OR and most of the Epic sea kayak touring paddles.

"Get 'em while they're hot!" as the saying used to go....

Paddle prices have gotten breathtaking in the past few years....

Yikes, that's a big change in the price of the Nimbus paddles. When I comparing prices between Nimbus and Werner, a comparable Nimbus was around $100 cheaper. And you are also right, it is a individual preference thing.

I have Werner Cyprus and Ikelos & the foam is worthy. Like it goes unnoticed, but when sitting still and pushing the paddle down in the water and feeling it pop up like it does, You realize what it's doing.

Re: Werner employees moving to the new location; Who wants to move from Washington to Tennessee?

I have used the Ikelos and Cyprus for 15-20 years. I had a Kiska Full Carbon during that time that I tried hard to like but it just felt like a blunt instrument. Personal taste.
