Just got back from paddling out to see Joe head off north from 10 Mile Point. He is in great form and stoked to finish tomorrow night. He plans to camp tonight at Arbutus Point on Portland... Still a ways to go.
He also had an interview this afternoon on Fonyo Beach - should be aired tonight on CHEK TV...
Barring mishaps, he should be able to beat the record and make it to Nanaimo tomorrow evening!

Sharks, strong N/W winds for Gulf Islands predicted for today. It will be a wet ride for Joe. At least currents will be with him all the way.

Joe, i hope you make it to Nanaimo before noon tomorrow!

Less than one hour to go. I can almost sense his euphoric excitement, but also pain in the muscles and tiredness.

Is anyone from Victoria inviting Joe for first hand presentation from his trip? SISKA perhaps?

    Joe, congratulations!!!!!!!

I was able to paddle the last 3 km with Joe last night as he made it back to the ramp shortly after 8 PM. It was neat seeing him appear as a little dot that grew larger coming from Jack Point. He was still paddling fast and strong. I was Joined by SheilaP, JoAnne, and Helen Wilson. We were very proud of him!

Just awesome! It's great to have a Canadian take this record, though Joe should move to BC so we can call him a local...

lol! :D You won't regret this purchase Sushiy! Jo and I both have a Joe O'Blenis 'boxed set' which is a paddle, storm paddle and rolling stick. Endless hours of fun and skill improvement. :big_thumb

    Hey Everyone,

Just starting to recover from the trip. I found this thread last night and read through all the comments. It as like re-living the entire trip through the internet.
In truth though, the entire trip is still a blur in my mind. I'll take the next few days to sort through the memories and will get a trip report ready to post shortly.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and support. All in all though, it was one hell of a trip!

    Cheers...Joe O'
