What is the best/preferred way to repair a 3" crack in Kevlar? Is it with Kevlar or with fiberglass cloth? I seem to recall reading that Kevlar cloth can get fuzzy and is a difficult cloth to work with. My thought is to repair the crack on the inside and the gelcoat on the outside

I am having the same thing done on my carbon kevlar boat right now. The fellow doing the repair used bidirectional woven carbon fibre cloth on the inside of the boat to repair the fracture and then redid the gel coat on the outside where it was fractured and damaged. I am very happy with how the repair turned out.

Thanks. I'm thinking that I'll try using peel ply on the inside to try to give a nice smooth finish that will need minimal sanding.

I visited my local boat builder yesterday and picked up West System epoxy, hardener, pumps, fiberglass, and peel ply. I'm all set to start repair work this weekend.
