He was a little coy, but sent me his link so it seems as if Randy Chatterjee is making another attempt: started 3 days ago and looks to be making good time[now 6:32 pm, made 43 NM today] . I think this is unsupported - we'll find out afterward.
And we'll see what happens with time and wear and tear and conditions on the outer coastline.

Good luck, good luck, good luck!

    Best of luck to Randy.
There's a young fellow named Finn doing 'the loop' right now too. Anyone by chance know how he's doing?
I only know about his attempt because I briefly spoke to him at a launch as I was launching and he was landing.

Oh, I see Finn has a post asking a few Q's in the trip reports pages.

I can just hear him: "only 2 miles to go, only 2 miles to go, only 2 miles to go!"

argh, he's pulled out to a cove on the outside of Cape Scott because of conditions. Doesn't seem to be much of a change for the better coming so . . . .

He's up and going again, but the end of the day will be right at Brooks Peninsula - which is also a touchy location in conditions.

    mild conditions today ...

    10:40 am
CAPE SCOTT OVC NW5E 1FT CHP LO SW
QUATSINO CLDY W10E 2FT CHP LO SW

Solander Island 11:00 AM PDT 14 May 2017 NNE 4

He appears to hug the shore, which would have made Cape Scott seem worse than it was

So he's been putting down between 40 [74km] and 45 [83km] nautical miles a day - but yesterday was only 16. Is he going to try and make it up today? He is at 28 nautical so far right now and so what is he going to try to do?

Is he going to play it safe and hit the north side of the Brooks peninsula at say Crababble and settle for about a 40 nautical mile day?
Or is he going for a good haul and hit Nordstom Ck on the outside of Brooks for about a 48 [89 km] nautical mile day?
Or is he going for big time broke down to the Bunsby's for about a 60 nautical mile day?:

I wonder. Can the body take it. Can he see?

    **
edited to add: he's using his head and resting up at Lawn Point [a little farther on that he was in the above] for a push around Brooks. A record is looking difficult now.

Looks like he's had a bad couple of days and is hunkering down at Lawn Pt - just before Brooks.
    Better luck next time!

It must have been annoying to be halted and then hit headwinds for the tougher stuff later: so he headed to the inside of Nootka Is and is calling it. I sure hope he tries again and gets good conditions - it might be interesting to see how well he could actually do.

I presume he'll stop at Tahsis.

Russell paddled around the Brooks Peninsula May 31 2014 under windy conditions

I suspect one would need to be comfortable in 25 knot winds to beat his record.
