Our annual trek takes us to the Broughtons area this year. Does anyone have experience/suggestions for parking in Port McNeill? Free would be good, paid is fine if it's more secure.

Hi Stagger. Check with the Black Bear Resort http://www.port-mcneill-accommodation.com/ - 250-956-4900. I know that they have a really big parking lot there. Not sure if they will let you park there or not, but it's a good place to start.

We stayed down the road at bit at Alder Bay. Reasonable camp sites, inside clean toilets. fair daily parking fee. We water taxied into the Burwood Group and paddled back out over several days.

We decided to stay at Alder Bay, a great place to camp the night before launching. Parking was very reasonable, as were showers (a great amenity to have at the end of a trip). It's conveniently located to Johnstone Strait and the Broughtons. Thanks for the tip, designer!
