Any mainlanders paddling over to Portland on Friday night after work, and paddling to the get-together early Sat?

    8) Mark I think it would be fabulous to have a video of the event, 30+ kayaks on the water, faces to some of the people on this forum. What a GREAT idea, please  give it your best shot.

I am out. My boat needs repair on the hatches and the blasted sail rig rudder is broken again. Just not enough time to fix what I need to fix before the trip. Maybe I can make it to the meet at the beach.

Came down with a killer cold Tuesday night. Stuffy nose, sinus headaches, chills. I'm staying bundled up at home, drinking lots of fluids and doing my darndest to be well enough to get there next weekend. I really want to see all you guys.

How do you guys feel about name tags? I know it sounds cheesy but with about 45 people and many of them new to most of us, I think it would be a good idea to put on name tags for the weekend.

    Any input?

Weather is looking pretty good - sunshine and a LOW of 2 degrees on Thursday. Last year that was our high, wasn't it?! Oops..maybe I shouldn't mention weather.

I'll be paddling through Portland Island, stopping at Arbutus Point for Thursday night. Anyone wants to join?

By the way, Willi from Austria cannot make it this time, but will be here for some kayaking in late May or early June.

Yes thanks Darren, I really enjoyed it too. Love the music. Thinking a Portland Island trip this year sounds real good too.

Your very welcome :) My editing has gotten much better since then (better software too) so hopefully 09 will be a better vid....

What we need is a 53" wingspan RC plane to take some aerial footage.

    Hmmmm.....

    You mean something like that:

It's only 47", fit's in my car and rear hatch and could do the job. Let's wait, maybe someone will show up with a 52" version

    Or like this?

Here's what I used to get some aerial photos from the Albion Sports Park in Maple Ridge. The yellow box actually contains the basic point & shoot digital camera:

Quite a fancy house to the east side of the field:

    Houses to the northeast:

A couple overhead shots of us in the field. Vibration is always difficult to deal with when operating gas (glow fuel) powered planes. Hence, the bluriness of some of the photos:

Sorry, only 52". But it should be light with low wing loading, so plenty of lift for a camera in the belly. Gonna be tight on the time frame though - the wing is about 1/2 done. I'll want to get a few test flights in before the event.

Andreas, if you have time, play with a camera on the Super Cub. But be aware of the C of G - you can't mess with it too much and still have stable flight. I'm not sure how much extra lift you'll have either, never having flown your plane.
