upcoming Marine VHF radio/ROC (M) courses

Feb 27, 2006
Hi all,

For Canadian kayakers who want to be all legal and educated on how to operate their marine VHFs, the upcoming courses are:

Tuesday, July 11, 6-9pm (online class via Zoom) and Saturday, July 15, 11am – 1pm (in-person exam at Jericho Sailing Centre).

Wednesday, August 23, 6-9pm and Saturday, August 26, 11am-1pm, both sessions in-person at Jericho Sailing Centre.

Wednesday, October 11, 6-9pm (online class via Zoom) and Saturday, October 14, 11am – 1pm (in-person exam at Jericho Sailing Centre).

As ever, yours truly will be teaching 'em!
I am guessing these courses are available (via Zoom) to US citizens who kayak Canadian waters. Is that correct?
So during the pandemic, CPS allowed us to do both the classes and the exams online via Zoom. With the reduction in COVID, they no longer allow us to do the exams online - they have to be in person. So Americans would have to come to Jericho Sailing Centre on the dates we do exams.

However, from a previous thread on this topic:

U.S. vessel operators, including kayakers, visiting Canadian waters in their own U.S. vessels have 45 days continuous before they need to meet Canadian requirements.

So many American kayakers wouldn't need a Canadian ROC (M) anyway.
