Where would be a good and safe place to park a vehicle in Deep Cove for two nights? I would love to join, but that is a subject to my wife's approval and finding someone to partly finance the expenses.

That young energy and humor rercharge is hard to pass on.

Darren, too bad you can't make it.

Gregn, you can park on the street in Deep Cove near the kayak rental shop. I've parked there many, many times and never had a problem.

    K - looks like I'm in need of a ride again :?

Anyone have room on their racks? I'm small and don't take up much space

GregN, it'll be good to see you again, I hope you can make it (and perhaps give Elmo a ride as well).

So, are we going to have a potluck dinner or are we all just going to fend for ourselves?

    I'm fine either way.

Assuming everything goes as planned, Blondie and I will be there armed with a very tasty potluck dish. We're tentatively planning on paddling out Friday afternoon some time, and back Sunday morning.

Looks like I'm SOL for a ride - I'm going to have to take another look at my options.

Any of you Vancouveristas know, off the top of your head, how many km's it is to the nearest launch point from the Tswassen Ferry terminal? I'm considering coming over by bike and trailer.

    Thanks!

Maddie and I also have a potluck dish that we'll be bringing (mmm...).

Elmo, I take it that GregN is not coming? It would most likely be too far to ride your bike and trailer to Deep Cove from Tsawwassen -- I'd offer to pick you up at the ferry but we've already got my roof rack loaded to capacity.

Is no one else from the Island coming? Andreas?

That was a hard decision for me to make. Sorry Elmo for the disappointment.

On the other hand, Willi and I started already to talk about next spring WCP get together. Hope that he will be able to get the transfers from Vienna right on time. Also, perhaps we'll get free demo of the latest beach wear from EU area.

Sadly, both I and my buddy Mike are going to have to bail on this. I've been sick for a week (so has he) and I'm still recovering. Just doesn't make sense to go cold-weather camping when you're trying to get better. Plus I've missed a fair bit of time from work and we have deadlines to meet.
I'm bummed - I was looking forward to seeing everyone. Ah, well, there's always the Spring meet. And if we time it right, it can be just as rainy, windy, and snowy as this one would have been :D

Sorry Elmo - I can't offer a ride either. I'll probably be going over Thursday some time but won't be taking a car. My boat's waiting for me at Boundary Bay, so I'll just be walking on the ferry and hopping on a bus from there.

It'd make for a long ride and/or paddle from anywhere near a ferry terminal, and you also have narrower roads, much more traffic and tunnels / bridges to consider. Vancouver isn't nearly as kayak-trailer friendly as the Victoria area is. :(

    Dan and elmo,
If you two can arrange to pick up and drop elmo & kayak on my route ( either 176th or 152th or King George Way ), I can pick him up on Friday morning around maybe 10:30 or 11:00 ,depends on the border trafic.

On the way back, I can drop him off ( I don't mind to drop him only off,
keeping his kayak  ) at the same spot.

If I had plenty of time on Sunday, I would not mind to drive all the way to the ferry, but I have to go Seattle to work that evening, so I can't.

I have my friend with me, but I can carry 3 kayaks.

I wonder if anyone can let him camp in his backyard for Thursday night.

Hope you can make it happen.

Elmo, if it happens, don't feel bad. I will let you tow me for the last mile or so, and you let me try your boat :D
