NIce shots, WaterMark! Spooky day in that fog, for sure. I saw you launching but didn't want to disturb you. Next time I'll shout out.

I myself didn't paddle far yesterday. I went down to the newly reclaimed section (where the wharf used to be) and did something I've been putting off all winter: self-rescue practice. But sunshine gave me courage, so into the water I went.

Regards,
Andrew

Just getting out in Port Moody harbour for a bit.

One of my interests is designing small craft. This (called 'facetious' because of some expected facetting) boat is one I actually got around to building.
6'-8" x 2'-2" x 52 us gal. x about 25 lb.
Primarily for flatwater play use, but it has hit a few easy and well known river sections where the rocks are soft & gentle. (tho it is loaded internally with kevlar, carbon and with multi layers of glass in and out). 1/8" ribbon grain mahogany plyood hull and 1/8" poplar bending plywood deck:

Mick, if you are taking orders, I am buying ;) pardon my language, but that boat is F%&King hot!

hi west coast friends!

I got out yesterday with a friend for a paddle from Barnett Marine Park to Raccoon Island and back. A bit on the cold side in the morning but once in the sun it was beautiful. Hardly saw any other boats on the water.

Early start at Barnett Marine Park:

Looking towards the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge. Note the McBarge to the left -- soon to be towed to Mission and made into a restaurant:

Looking up the arm:

Square holes on Raccoon Island -- history has it that a long time ago a fellow thought there were blue diamonds on the island -- there are four square holes on the island that are remnants of that failed search:

Looking south from Raccoon Island towards Jug Island and Belcarra Park:

Went paddling today with a friend out of Jericho. We took a Scorpio and Nordkapp RM and traded off half-way to compare them side-by-side.

Thank god thank crumbling concrete monstrosity is gone. Looks like it will be a nice beach for launching, with some protection from waves when it's choppy, and it provides some sheltered waters for lessons.

I got a GoPro from my awesome girlfriend for Xmas, so here's a couple vids from surf at South Chesterman beach last weekend, and a bit of carnage from Crescent beach from today.

Marshall and I went for a quick paddle and hike to the falls at Widgeon Creek on Friday.
I only managed to take one picture before we were paddling in the pouring rain.

Nice pic, Maddie. So sorry we're not going to see you at the Spring WCP.
