Sad news. Boreal Design will file for bankruptcy tomorrow and has laid off 45 employees.

Not that it pertains directly to thread...but...

Is there any truth to the hear-say that BorealDesigns had received significant Government (both federal and Quebec provincial) subsidies/grants/etc through it's history?

My search has come up empty on 'BorealDesigns'...but it could have been a 'Division of' another company name under either ownerships.

Just curious...

Too bad. I had the chance to paddle a couple Boreal Boats, and they were pretty decent. I do like paddling a 'made-in-Canada' boat (since I am Canadian... if your from the US, perhaps you want a US boat??).

Perhaps a sign of the times...
