The orca pod there is a resident group essentially staying in the area the year round ergo your odds of seeing them anytime in the summer right up until the end of September are very good. What may be more important to you is to make your decision around the weather pattern (the high pressure zone does not usually build until mid to late July and shifting the predominate wind patterns as well as bringing sun and later fog). So too should you be concerned with tide fluctuations (range of swings) and your ability to deal with those tides to predict where to camp and strong currents which are essential to understand in the J Straight waters.
