Two items that I like to take along that last indefinitely and are not affected by temperature, humidity or wildlife. The first item is sold as baby food at Wal-Mart for around a dollar. They are squeeze tubes of very flavourful, organic and healthy ingredients ( No junk) that have a twist off top. They are just the right size to fit in a deck bag, a pocket of your jacket or pfd, and they give you an added burst of energy if a meal is a long way off and you are hungry. It's a great way to avoid scurvy and get your vegetables while paddling.

The second item is often found near the checkouts in a cardboard stand. There are a couple of types of either Camembert, or Brie in a can or plastic tub that is sealed in plastic and boxed to identify it. I will recycle the box and write on the container before packing them. They last forever until you open them and again, no junk. They are great sliced, spread or used in any number of tasty situations.
