Ceder strips and wood for sale

    I've come to realize that I won't be building a second boat so I have a bunch of wood that I would like to get rid of. I have about 100 strips of: clear, 3/4" x 3/16" x 19' and 1/2" x 3/16" x 19'. I also have two boards of clear cedar: 3.5" x 3.5" x 15'. I haven't looked at the strips very...

    Help with skinning a SOF

I was originally planning on dying; however I seem to have picked up some water stains on the bottom. So dying might be in order. I'll have to research it. Right now I'm leaning towards Corey's pu, it's not much more $$ than $40 for a hardware pu. The skin is 8oz nylon.

    Help with skinning a SOF

Thanks for the help and advice, I've managed to almost complete the sewing - I still have to stitch on the coaming. I have a couple of wrinkles, and I'm not sure how common this is, or if it will give me problems later on. What are people's thoughts...

    Sleeping bags

Nice choice, I came "this close" to picking that bag. It's almost as small and light as the mec pharoah, which is what I chose. Well done!

    Sleeping bags

Like a few others, I bought a new sleeping bag this year. I decided on the MEC Pharoah -7C. It packs down to 10L. Daren's Drake looks like a great bag if you want something that isn't quite as warm, it packs down to 8L. The Pharoah has some gortex in the footbox and hood in case of...

    digital water spots

Hi Daren, I can't help you with your question but if I come across any info I'll let you know. However, I'm wondering approximately how much you paid for your housing? I once bought one from my sd100 for $25 off of ebay. It's only a 2mp camera, which is a bit long in the tooth. I now have a...

    bent-shaft canoe paddle

yup, the Aleut paddle is from Rob Macks. I used pine for the shaft (with walnut laminations) with red cedar for the blade. It's a bit heavy, but it works surprisingly well actually. The blade of the canoe paddle is mahogany and yellow cedar. The weights of wood vary a lot of course. I think...

    bent-shaft canoe paddle

Thanks everyone. I think it is around 12° to 13°. It's a bit heavier than I'd like, I may one day shave down the blade a bit and thin out the shaft (although the shaft is already a nice size). Unknown to me at the time, ash can be quite dense compared to other hardwoods. I think I would use...

    Best strip kit?

I dunno where in the NE you are, but Laughing Loon is in Maine and they have a boat for you to paddle.

    Best strip kit?

I have limited experience but can offer some thoughts on this. 1. I've bought plans from Laughing Loon, and have had several good customer service responses from Rob Macks. I love his baidarkas and you can order kits for them. 2. I've seen a kit from Redfish and it was very nice. The King...

    Let's talk about Coffee!

I haven't looked around very much, but I've seen them at espressotec in Richmond for $38. The key (imo) to good coffee is getting the grind right, and getting it fresh. I have a hand grinder that I can take car camping. You know, if I was rich and obsessive, I would get a vacuum package...
