Anyone interested in red cedar for paddle making?

Hi there. In search for some western red cedar to make a GP, i came across a local wholesaler in Delta, with a good price on clear 2x6s(on sale cheaper than 2x4s). But the minimum order is 10pc and i have no need for near that many. Would anyone in Lower Mainland be interested in splitting the...

    Fast/Fun Kayak Recommendation? Q700x, Rapier 18, 18x Sport, Wind 585

Out of this list, I have demoed the Epic and the Rapier. Epic felt very user friendly (comfortably stable, comfortable ergonomics)but maybe not super robust, the Rapier was fast and beautiful but i imagine paddling it empty in real chop would be a bit unnerving or at the least use a bunch of...

    Which pfd?

My 2 cents is if they both are comfortable enough to qualify, give them points for fit and for utility/storage and buy the one you gave the highest score. Just make sure the fit is sufficiently good in paddling mode, not just standing at the store and it doesn't ride up or chafe.

    The likes of a Romany

I know this is not exactly what you're asking for, but a Dagger Stratos is a very capable ocean playboat and also a P&H Delphin if you can find one... modern designs that in many ways do away with graceful classic looks, but you get a very functional boat .

Has anyone been in contact with Joe O'Blenis recently?

I remember meeting Joe a lifetime ago back when he lived here in Vancouver area and thinking he's a good guy, bought a boat off him. I seriously wonder if he has a substance abuse issue. Not making any excuses, sounds like it's absolutely unacceptable what he does to his customers. Just...sad to...

Battery for an Icom M34 -Free

I have a battery for an Icom M34 VHF radio that I'm hoping to give to someone who may still have one of these. My unit itself has died but the battery is much newer and would be a shame to throw away. Also have a never-used AA battery tray for the same radio, $10 and 120V charger for free...

    Which pfd?

Here's my 2 cents on various PFDs i have had first and second hand experiences with : My main PFD for many years now is a MEC Fulcrum (the whitewater version) it has been comfortable to tour, play and practice rescues with. The pocket is low profile and modest capacity but it works, zipper has...

Delta 17 kayak Skirt for rolling

Seals Shocker has been my go-to for many years and many boats. You probably want a 1.7 and a XL tunnel.

    Delta 12.10 cockpit comfort

Welcome to the group. About how you'll fit into that boat, it depends on your flexibility. If you have very stiff joints , or if you just don't like confined spaces, you may struggle. Otherwise, the Delta has a cockpit that's fairly large and roomy. I am 6ft1 and 190 and find most Delta cockpits...

    Amaruk vs Looksha T

I ended up finding a good deal on a pretty clean Looksha T. Prior to that got my hands on a Current Designs Double Vision R, which was lighter weight , and possibly quicker and more maneuverable than the Necky on flatwater, but the tiny front hatch and lack of rocker were not inspiring so I re...
