Great tips on practicing for rolling

Quite true for the rolls done without a paddle. The West Coast Sea Kayak Symposium Greenland Rolling Demo 2005 (above) shows Dubside rolling a variety of "kayaks". For Mick, the vertical sculling roll:

Great tips on practicing for rolling

A reasonably good video, with good tips, but roller leads with his head. His chin should almost be touching his shoulder. I'm somewhat biased towards learning with a greenland paddle - there are extensive videos avaliable.

    Northern Light Paddle Loom

I had to paddle hard to avoid a whirlpool today, off Quathiaski Cove, during what was only a 6 knot ebb. A barge wake hit the normally smallish tide race and made it quite chaotic for a while. It didn't help that I was paddling a SUP instead of a kayak.

Did you get some surfing at Surge? There would have been short periods each day when the wave was formed.

Drysuit leak test - with soap/water mix

Update: a SUP pump works great as an air source. It was easy to drill a hole in an old spice container that fit the wrist gasket & push in one of the SUP pump adapter nozzles. The tapered nozzle held in place just by friction, even when I put in too much pressure and the next gasket container...

Improving grip of a neoprene skirt?

I have only 1 plastic kayak and the skirt does not grip well at all. My fiberglass kayaks hold skirts 100%.

    Paddling Magazine Industry Awards

SUP paddles with adjustable length will be short enough for some people while in a high kneeling position. But for sitting on the board or in a low seat like a crazy creek, a 3 piece greenland paddle is the best, as it can be disassembled & stored under the bungies.

Long Video With More Than One Lesson

Has to be none. At 15:19 of episode 2 "We didn't know how high the tide was going to come up" as the video shows an obvious high tide line on a rock face.

The declined comment was my own fault - I wasn't a member of that particular hiking group and didn't realize it. Facebook could have given me a more informative message.

I give them a pass on their decisions (mostly) because of the effort it took to make the video - which is a great eye opener for those who are complacent about safety.

    Northern Light Paddle Loom

Wanted: a NLP loom 15" or greater. I believe they go up to 18". Would prefer a longer length. The measurement I refer to is not the total length, but the grip length ie a 13" loom is 22" overall. I'd also consider a whole paddle if the loom was long enough.
