    Cockpit coaming trim piece?

I was told today that automotive door edge trim is the same stuff and it costs only .80 cents a foot. I think I may try some because it's quite cheap. The idea of putting some "glue" on it also crossed my mind and I may try that too but the ad says it's has an adhesive inside so it may not be...

    Cockpit coaming trim piece?

Hello to all. I own a Perceptions Sea Lion Shadow and my 2 friends own Perception Sea Lion Eclipse and a Chinook. On all 3 kayaks the old combing trim is worn and falls off very easily. Tom at Top Kayaker sells replacement trim. My question is simply "does the trim do anything other then...

    To change e-mail record?

Hello to all. I used an e-mail address to set up my account on this site. The carrier I used was sub-standard and got worse over time so I changed to g-mail, but I still have the old e-mail as the recorded address here. (not used anymore and closed that account with that company ) I want to...

    Leaking Air bag?

Anna and I have several old kayaks we got used which are made with no bulkheads. We bought them at yard sales and use them as loaners to teach new students. Such kayaks need float bags because the first things we teach any new student is to do wet exits and reentries. We are not wealthy...

How likely are whales to overturn you in a kayak?

Can't happen (to me.) Whales don't walk 1100 miles over mountains very well. So I am safe, thus far at least. And I never take my kayak into WalMart, so those 'whales' are not a threat either.

    Leaking Air bag?

And if no gear is needed for a short paddle I could just use the dry bag as a float with nothign in it too. I am seeing the logic now,.

Pain or discomfort in the hip area?

I also have found a few pains in my hip joints after long days on the water. Not every time, but sometimes. I have not seen a pattern yet as to when and why. Some days I go out 4 hours and others I am out from 5:00AM until 10:00 PM and oddly, the longer sessions do not seem to give me pain...

    Leaking Air bag?

Thanks Cougar, but I can always throw it out. I figured to try a rapair first. It's not a dry bag, just a float bag. What's it made from? I am unsure, and I don't know what the difference is in the materials used. It's an older NRS bag and its gray and black, marked "made in Mexico". It's...

    Leaking Air bag?

In buying used kayaks I often get spray skirts and sometimes float bags and paddles too. But one float bag I got has a fixture (that is glued into the bag for the air hose to attach) that has a glue joint which is now loose and leaking air. I have in mind to get a small syringe and fill it...

    what's this stroke called?

I learned and use it because of the want to get into overhanging rock formations on the lake I live near. When I am about 3-4 feet from the "cave walls" the lake bottom can be a jumble of rocks and a sculling draw is hard to do because the paddle can hit at the top (overhang) more, and also the...

    what's this stroke called?

OK, I know and use the hanging draw, the sculling draw and one sculling stroke that is like the sculling draw but moving the edging of the blade the opposite way to PUSH my kayak sideways instead of drawing it sideways. I do it well, and was showing the kids from Church how to do it today, but...

    bungee beads?

Deck balls and deck beads are what some are called. I was looking up "bungee beads" and not getting a l,ot of hits. Knowing what to call them is very helpful. I will make some from Delrin tubing in the near future because the idea ofd not needed to remove the old bungee is not important to...

    bungee beads?

I came up with an idea I may try. I can buy 3/4" delrin tubing with 1/4" bore. I'll chuck it in the lathe and cut off at 3/4' lengths and I'll have instant beads with 1/4" stand-off. A foot of it costs about $6.

    bungee beads?

Other than making them from bone of antler, is that a source for bungee cord deck beads that can simply be purchased?

    Greenland paddle shaft repair

For that kind of crack and in that location I would not trust a glue joint by itself. Such a crack is best broken or cut and then you should drill an dowel it back with a high grade reinforced epoxy. If it were mine I'd use stainless steel tubing as the dowel pin. Marine-Tex or Brownells...
