    Kayaking and Staph infection?

FWIW, I wash my boat out after each trip and the cockpit and hatches get washed with bleach to disinfect any nasties in there. Don't know how often you do a thorough cleaning of the boat, but you could be picking it up there.

Kayak Storage around False Creek / DT Vancouver

Thanks! Will-do! I'll just have to avoid those 1/2 height stall doors in the mens room.

The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeline

Re: The Pipedreams Project, BC's coast & the Enbridge Pipeli I'm a kayaker and avid out-doors enthusiast. I am also a realist and support a healthy balance to ensure our economy keeps functioning. I would like to see the proper oversight and regulatory enforcement because simply stamping your...

Crabbing from your kayak?? How ? Where?

Thanks Mark. I scuba dive and routinely see 3-spot prawns between 25 - 40 feet, generally where sandy-bottom transitions to rocks. I have seen swarms of them mostly around 35 feet in Howe sound. So this led me to believe they are catchable like crabs.

Hauling SCUBA gear on a paddle trip?

That is really cool. Would it fit two HP130's, 8.25" Diameter x 26" long? What are the internal dimensions? What is the CDN price? Are they for sale only, or rent?

Rick, this is the titanium version of the diving knife I mentioned in the post above. I have the flat-tip version in stainless. Its an excellent, full-size knife.

    Pre-Purchase Information Request

Came across this thread and thought I would post now 3-years on from my purchase. I use this boat extensively for salt-water afternoons through multi-day trips. (4 days is longest so far, although we packed gear for 6 days out). I love this boat, and don't see a need to replace it with anything...

    Knives

I use a Wenoka Squeeze in Ti for paddling. The price can't be beat for the value of the knifes ergonomics and function and because when I'm paddling I'm often camping and carry steel in my pack, I only want it for emergency cutting on my PFD. I knew I wouldn't use it for utility cutting when...

Olympus Stylus 1030 SW Digital Camera

Cant speak to the camera in question, but I have an Olympus StylusTough-DS8000. I use it for paddling, scuba-diving (in a waterproof housing) and everything else. The only complaint I have so far (have owned it for 6 months) is that I have been a canon customer for years, and the Olympus...

    What's up with the Droms?

Thats a certainty it will be in there. However you cannot taste bisphenol A because it is present in parts per billion and parts per million. your tastebuds are not that sensitive.

    What's up with the Droms?

I have 2 - 10L MSR Droms and I have no problems with them. There is a slight taste that has been fading since I bought them 2 years ago, but not a problem. How long ago did you buy these? Are they using a different coating now? Maybe its a quality control issue and the plastic isn't cured...

    Brown Water in Indian Arm

I was in Barclay Sound last week and much of the West Coast is terrible red tide right now and has been for several weeks. Brown, rust-colored water everywhere.
