Seaward Passat G3 - School Me

Oops. The photo above is not the G3, but the regular Passat. The discussion in the link above covers it all from my perspective. Love the G3. Paddled it with clients and on personal trips. The only downside to the G3 is that the bow cockpit was moved a bit far forward to make room for the...

    Picking my next boat-FSK.

My two cents. Epic 18x is likely fastest when unloaded( or QCC). However, I bet the faster of all these boats is the one that you have room for a full leg drive, racing foot pedals, and a free torso. As you know your ability to apply power is limited somewhat by fit. Also, the difference...

legal requirements for guided trips in BC

pryaker, I agree with the essence of your idea, however a guided trip can be very different. Personal trips are different than commercial. Assumptions of risk are very different. I suggest the solution is easy, hire a certified level 1 guide and enjoy! Compared to all the expenses of flying...

Oscar Chalupsky Clinic at Deep Cove Canoe & Kayak Centre

I love this interview of Oscar by Joe Glickman (author of Fearless, Freya Hoffmeisters story) where Joe says he has the physique of Santa Claus and is too "over golfed" to win the race from Molokai to Oahu. http://www.epickayaks.com/news/news/the ... g-the-best and he won! Awesome story.

    Kayak Stolen - Victoria

Wow, it has already been three years? I have never understood how boats that are stolen and are so unique are never found again. I keep expecting them to turn up on craigslist or wherever for sale, and they never do. Or at least as far as I can tell they don't. Every so often boats are found...

Gouged my coaming - ugly, but not terminal.

I have to admit, looking at the photo I am confused as to what angle/what I am seeing? Others might be able to decipher the shot more easily. Have you got wider shot? But while we are at it, what boat? layup?

    Skirt for a Sterling Illusion

Strange on the fit between the sizes. The Trek series I find so flexible that I can use it on many boats, while the Exp is sometimes so stiff that many have trouble getting it on. Is that the problem between the sizes? The Exp has the reinforced rand. Beefy. Warren Williamson paddles an Illusion...

Where did you paddle? - April 2013

Your trip reports have always been a treat and this one no less than before. Wow. You have convinced me to do a trip in Alaska in the next few years. Would you mind posting approx lat and long so I can do some google earth planning? My Alaskan geography is terrible.

    Epic 16X and 18X Sport

I paddled the 16 (not the X) years back and enjoyed it. But really enjoyed the 18X except for some leaking into the hatches in small waves. I am used to trad sea kayaks that are often very dry. The combination of maneuverability and speed in the 18x is totally different than what many trad sea...

Waterproof point and shoots - water repellent glass

In a word, no. But I have the Lumix DMC-TS4 and it has no mention of any lens treatment in the manual. I do get droplets on the lens that I can't shake off easily. Normally I have to submerge it and give it a hard shake to be able to shoot again if in a hurry. Having said all that, I have no...

    Swartz Bay Drop-off Access

I agree. It has been fine to pull up to the end and unload. It is not a bad launch too, as long as the tide is not too far out. On big big low tides, I seem to remember it gets a bit messy. or I suppose you could launch from the dock if you are crafty.
