    I like thru-bolts for mounting footpeg rails. They are simple, and if you want to remove the footpeg rails to use a bulkhead footboard, it's easy to plug the holes.     Sandy: A couple of questons: Are your 'T' pieces glued together? Do they fit through standard kayak hatches - round 10" or the oval shapes? Also, How do you reinforce the bottom of the T where the axle passes through? (see pic) Is that another T fitting that you slice the thick section from?
