Making and unmaking holes in a fibreglass kayak

On one of my first forward stroke classes the instructor was a woman. I was the only guy in the class. She asked the class how many of them had pierced navels. I think that I was the only person not holding up their hand. She said to imagine having a little bell on the piercing and making it...

Making and unmaking holes in a fibreglass kayak

Seems to me that it is easier to sit up straight than it is to paddle slouched. Backbands? We don't need no stinking backbands.

Central coast recommendations for family travel

It should be noted that the "grass" here was bushes well over my head last time I stopped and the beach, while lovely, dries to such an extent that comings and goings can be very difficult. Nice beach camping though.

Central coast recommendations for family travel

Your list includes the favorites there. Are you thinking of paddling from Bella Bella to Hose Pt the first day? Tide allowing there are lots of beaches to camp on between Hose Point and Cape Swaine. Access to and from Cape Mark is limited or difficult during low tides but friendly at high...

    Cable locks?

Matt Broze still maintains the extensive stolen boat database. Since he is more distant from the sport now he doesn't hear about or search out theft reports. He posted my Progression and I think that the database is on the Mariner website.

    Cable locks?

Good question. I can see where a thief from Portland could steal a red over white Eddyline in Seattle and disappear with it. I don't see a kayaker stealing a boat as distinctive looking as my Progression and getting away with it unless they loaded it in a container with some stolen cars headed...

    Cable locks?

I watched a lot of his videos prior to choosing my system. I figured that since three tools (two of them specialty locksmith tools and the third an Allen Wrench plus lockpicking expertise was required I was way ahead of the quick and dirty cable cutters that can be managed by the untrained...

    Cable locks?

I found a lot of helpful (and some not-so helpful) resources online. In general, chains are more difficult to defeat than cables but they have to be serious chains, That makes them heavy and unwieldy and not universal options. Interesting opinions and testing data are available. There are...

    Cable locks?

I have a set of those Thule locking straps and can't say that I am a fan. They are kind of stiff, not super flexible and don't feed through the buckle very smoothly. It takes some doing to get the tension right on them. They work and I suspect that they are as secure as cable locks but I...
