Best Route Bainbridge Island (WA) to Mink Island

My wife and I will be heading up from Bainbridge Island to Mink Island (BC). Our son will be meeting us in our around Powell River to shuttle us and our boats up to Mink Island .

I am soliciting some local knowledge to tell us if we are we better off heading back over to Seattle and heading up the mainland to Powell River via the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale and the Earls Cove-Saltery Bay ferries? Or go up from Bainbridge to Port Angles and ferry to Victoria and continue up to Comox to take the ferry to Powell River?
