I'm a bit of a dragonfly fanatic. The first time I was in a kayak I rolled it and wrecked my camera trying to photography a dragonfly. That'll teach me to multi-task. I'm a semi-retired professional photographer and generally shoot film (medium format being my preference) but this shot was taken with a consumer camera - specifically a Fuji FinePix s7000. As far as digi cams go it has the best macro I've seen in a model retailing less than $800. Actually when I went to get it I was having a hard time finding one... a convention of dentists had ordered all of them in our region (guess they are good for photographing dental work because of the fine macro). I was happily surprised to see how it handled the dragonfly.
I also took this shot of another one on the windshield wiper...
