Home Bay, Princess Royal Island

Vancouver, BC
Home Bay is at the NW end of Princess Royal Island where Whale Channel meets McKay Reach and Wright Sound. The broad beach is sand and gravel. It is very gradual so expect long carries at low tide.

We camped among driftwood logs at the top of the beach (53 16.2' N, 129 4.6' W from SPOT GPS on the beach). We had no tide problems with an overnight high tide of 4.1 m at Bella Bella. At high tides it should be possible to find flat campsites in the forest behind. Fresh water is available from streams at either end of the beach. There is no outhouse. This is a usefully located campsite and there are great views across Wright Sound to Grenville Channel. Also see Wild Coast 2 page 223.
