Missing kayaker in Washington

These warm days typically get pretty breezy in the Strait. It was blowing close to 15mph in Neah Bay about the time he launched so it was likely more than that at Freshwater. Hard to believe he paddles that very often in jeans not wearing a pfd...a recipe for disaster. Looked like a small swell but near the mouth of the Elwha it could have stacked up on him. Hopefully he walked out , but doesn't sound good. There was a rescued kayaker in PA harbor on Sunday afternoon...no pfd and no immersion gear. By the time rescue swimmers got him out his body temp was 83F! Lucky he survived it. Both paddlers 31yrs old...go figure
