More options is better than less for sure. It may seem like backcountry, but there are a lot of private residences and commercial lots mixed in with the tree farm tenures. Last summer when I paddled through, I saw construction on more houses at Diamond Bay (Sonora Island) which fronts the Okisollo Rapids.

The Octopus Islands are not far from archaeological sites which now show that humans may have come to North America sooner than previously thought.

AE- Thanks for the link to that article - an excellent read.
It seems that the oldest artifacts from the Quadra Is area are all 'newer' than 12,800 years ago so no evidence yet from that area for earlier human settlements.

Additional info from the Hakai Institute.

Agreed, artifacts from Quadra have not been found yet that definitely support the 'Kelp Highway' hypothesis, but the investigators are confident they will find that evidence.

In that video, Daryl Fedje states that people have lived in the Quadra area for 14-15000 years. and talks about "the fact that they were here and living well here that long ago". That is a bit more than he has any proof for, so far. Time will tell.
The site at Yana River in Siberia has produced a lot of very convincing artifacts from much older times. It would be wonderful if a similar site were found in B.C.
