g. Drinking Water Sources: A stream runs to the south of the campsite
h. Aspect: North East
i. Site Accessibility: Sea and Road
j. Estimated Distance to Alternate Camp Site:
There is a single site at the head of Little Espinosa Inlet 500 meters.
k. Site Suitable for canoe or kayak. There is a ramp and a dock
suitable for small boats.
l. Relative Importance: This site provides access to Zeballos Inlet and
is a good staging campsite.
m. Notes:
i) There is parking available for two or three cars.
ii) Road is gravel from Hwy 19, usually well maintained.
iii) There is industrial traffic on the road 24/7.
iv) From Hwy 19 follow road to Zeballos. Near Zeballos take
the right fork and follow the road toward Fair Harbour. The
campsite is located where the road leaves Zeballos inlet.
v) Do not leave valuable items in sight. Theft has occurred
here.
vi) Site is popular with fishermen.

h. Aspect: South
i. Site Accessibility: Sea and Road
j. Estimated Distance to Nearest Camp Site: Garden Point is 8 NM.
(car camping at Resolution Park approx 1 km)
k. Site Suitable for canoe or kayak. There is a ramp suitable for small boats at some tides.
l. Relative Importance: This is the only access to Nutchalitz except via Zeballos.
m. Notes:
i) Parking is alongside road between Zeballos and Fair Harbour. There is a cleared space with room for several cars. Do not park parallel to the road.
ii) Road is gravel from Hwy 19, usually well maintained.
iii) There is industrial traffic on the road 24/7.
iv) From Hwy 19 follow road to Zeballos. Near Zeballos take the right fork and follow the road toward Fair Harbour. Launch site is on the Fair Harbour end of the bridge and causeway.
v) Do not leave valuable items in sight. Theft has occurred here.

i) There are 4-6 tent sites
ii) There is an outhouse, which is deteriorated though still usable.
f. Estimated Level of Use: moderate
g. Drinking Water Sources: A reliable stream runs to the east of the campsite.
h. Aspect: North and West (Photo is of island that obscures the main camp area)
i. Site Accessibility: Sea
j. Estimated Distance to Alternate Camp Site: Rosa Islet 4 NM.
k. Site Suitable for canoe or kayak.
l. Relative Importance: This site is a good all weather campsite.

i) There are 7-9 undeveloped tent sites
ii) There is an outhouse. Plastic green outie.
f. Estimated Level of Use: moderate
g. Drinking Water Sources: None
h. Aspect: North East
i. Site Accessibility: Sea
j. Estimated Distance to Alternate Camp Site: Garden Point 4 NM.
k. Site Suitable for canoe or kayak. This site can harbour a water taxi or other vessel for short periods. Sand bottom makes it unsuitable for overnight anchorage.
l. Relative Importance: This site is a good all weather campsite.
m. Notes:
i) Campsite is very dark and damp.
ii) This site is used as a staging area by at least one outfitter.
iii) The M.V. Uchuck drops off and picks up close to this site through pre-arrangement.

ii) There are a couple of spots cleared in the bush that would serve in all weather.
iii) Plastic green 'outie' outhouse located NW corner of the island.
iv) Steel food cache located NW corner of the island.

l. Relative Importance:
i) This site is a good base campsite for exploring Nutchalitz Islet.
ii) This site is a very attractive place to camp.

i) Campsite is open to wind.
ii) This site is used by at least one outfitter.
iii) The shoreline to the west is very interesting with many sea caves and rock formations covered with sea life.
iv)The area is covered with scrub indicating that it is not often flooded.
v) There is a windbreak built on the beach area that is suitable for a gathering area.

i) Surge and steep beach consisting of pea gravel make landing interesting.

i) There are more than 9 undeveloped tent sites on gravel bench.
ii) There is a plastic green 'outie' outhouse just inside the forested area – can be somewhat wet to get to with the dew on grasses along the trail.
f. Estimated Level of Use: moderate
g. Drinking Water Sources: None
h. Aspect: East
i. Site Accessibility: Sea
j. Estimated Distance to Alternate Camp Site: Rosa Islet 3 NM.
k. Site Suitable for canoe or kayak.
l. Relative Importance:
i) This site is an attractive place to camp.
ii) Staging site for those going North to Rugged Point.
m. Notes:
i) There are caves to explore in the forested area.
ii) Site is exposed to sun - there is no shade.
iii) This area is a unique deposit of pea gravel behind the main part of Catala Island. The area is being eroded at the west and material is deposited on the east.
iv) There is no access to the main part of Catala Island due to cliffs.
v) The MV Uchuck passes this site.
vi) Water can be found on Vancouver Island at:

ii) Rock gardens and sea caves around Twin Islands and West end of Catala Island are interesting to explore.
iii) Catala Island North is not accessible overland due to impassable cliffs.
