Are you a smaller person, paddling a kayak too wide for you, so that your boat handles like a barge? Are you interested in a sea kayak, where you can grow your technique? This is a true sea kayak, not a 'recreational kayak'. It's good for lakes or for the ocean. This fiberglass Avocet sea kayak was produced by the well known British firm, Valley Canoe Products. It is in unusually good condition, almost like new. It is a nimble 16’ kayak, intended for the small to medium sized person. These are no longer produced, but would have cost ~$3900 new plus tax. It comes with a spray skirt. The Avocet specs are:
• 3 Hatches (bow, stern, and day hatches)
• Skeg (works easily and smoothly)
• Length 488 cm (16')
• Width 56 cm (22")
• Weight 24 kg (53 lbs)
• Load Suitability 46 – 82 kg (101 - 181 lbs)
• Coaming: length 83.82 cm (33"), width 45.7 cm (18")
• Suggested Paddler Weight: 100 - 190 lbs
• Serial #: DKJAV129K607

Although Valley makes splendid sea kayaks, the Valley hatch covers tend to decompose with time. However, the bow and stern covers have been replaced by new, long lasting Sea-Lect hatch covers (photo shows old hatch covers). The kayak also has a keel strip and an under deck storage location for a manual bilge pump.

$2000 USD cash, price firm.

That is a gorgeous kayak! Whoever gets it will be lucky!

I traded my Valley Etain for the Avocet. I paddled the Avocet just a few times, but prefer my other kayak because it is much lighter (just under 40 pounds) for this 84 year old. Fortunately I didn't paddle it much at all so I have given it no really bad habits.

I just received the replacement day hatch cover. So all 3 hatch covers are now Sea-Lect made.

Greetings! I'm brand new to the forum, and I may or may not have registered specifically to ask about your Avocet (I've been looking for one : )
Apologies if this is answered elsewhere and I missed it, but how do buy/sell conversations usually happen here?

Aside -- from a perusal of a few other conversations, thanks to everyone who's made what looks to be a great online resource & conversation space!

Hi @drahcir, I’d love to chat about this boat but as a new forum member I don’t have the ability to start private conversations. Would you perchance be able to send me a message?

This shouldn't take long to sell. Especially if those here in BC know they can get access to it. Beautiful boat.
