I did not go paddling today as the weather seemed a litle inclement, so I spent some time doing a little virtual paddling on the WCP site!
I thought it wouldbe a good idea to start a new "where did you go" thread since the original one is now 3 pages!

Harrison River

We were at the Kilby camp ground for the past weekend. Had to work till noon 30 on Friday, so we didn't get out there till just after 4. And, can you believe it, the place was about full. Of 19 sites, two were open.

The rain/wind/heavy clouds lifted Saturday morning, so I put the Folbot together and went out on Harrison Bay. Was trying fishing...nope...but there were literally 100's of bald eagles int he trees. This coming weekend is the annual eagle count and they are releasing one as well. A great place to do a day paddle with lots of places to poke into nad check out.

Ahh, the joys of a Vancouver winter. Should I go snowshoeing on Saturday, or kayaking? Well, I figured there would be lots more snow to come, so paddling it would be. I grabbed my sister and after the donning of much neoprene, polypro, and wool we lauched from Jericho. The fog made things seem quite surreal. We hugged the shore closely and paddled west. We didn't make it very far since we were taking lots of pictures, but it was great to just be out there again.

The fog cleared a little just as we headed in

Cool pictures, everyone!

Mark, did you knit that hat?

Darren, you need to get a little squeegee (a piece of bike inner tube works).

blondie, you weren't the only one to have lots of fog on the weekend. Andy, Robert and myself paddled at Hayward Lake on Sunday. The water level was way down low creating a lot more above water stumps than usual -- combined with the fog, it made it quite eery:

nice shots all - water drops are the scourge of kayak photography  !Squeegies work sometimes as does a pice of chamois...
I have also found that spit and dunk works well if you have a water proof camera or housing...

Nope - and now I realize how goofy it looks! But it's warm.

I just finished making a new hat. It's not as deep (doesn't cover the ears) but it should be pretty warm for warmer winter days. Photos may eventually follow.

I can't see Blondie's photos! :( :?

Just right-click and choose "view picture"... I have the same issue when I post from Blogspot... once they're in the cache, they show quite well

I was having the same problem, and that didn't work for me. I had to view properties, then copy and paste the url into my nav bar. When I come back to WCP.com, there they are.. :?:

It happens all the time from my home PC, but not work??

I paddled at Hayward on the weekend too, on Friday with my daughter and Sat. with my husband. We had beautiful sunny weather both days but on friday the water was like glass. The reflections on the water were fantastic it was so flat. Jill

Widgeon Creek, a few weeks ago

Widgeon Creek, a few weeks ago

.... in all its frigid glory.

It was magnificent, with everything from splashes of sunshine to sleet. Went on a hike to the falls, saw plenty of salmon off the entrance of one of the creeks and of course lots of eagles.
